Tunisia?s temperate year-round climate provides ideal golfing conditions and with several conveniently located courses, the biggest decision for most golfers is where to play, whether it?s by the sea or surrounded by palm trees, the choice is yours. If winter sun is top of the agenda for your golf holiday then Tunisia is one place you must visit, as during December and January the average daily temperature is around 17 Celsius with spring temperatures rising in February to a summer high of 35 Celsius in August.
When you arrive in Tunisia there are 2 main golfing centres; Hammamet and Port El Kantaoui with 7 great courses between them. Both towns lie on the coast and have a lively port area with several bars and restaurants to sample each night.
If a day off the golf course is planned there are plenty of other activities; a walk around the local markets, a visit to the film set for Star Wars, a desert Safari or simply a day on the beach or by the pool.
It was about 10 years ago that the courses started to appear and now they have had time to mature perfectly into varying tests of golfing challenges. Staying at Port El Kantaoui there are 4 courses to choose from; El Kantaoui Sea and Panorama courses are minutes from the hotels and Palm Links and Flamingo a short transfer away. The Kantaoui courses have, in the past, hosted several Seniors European Tour events and are rated among the best in the country. Palm Links and Flamingo are slightly newer and offer different layouts with great layouts and challenging holes.
An hour north lies Hammamet with the 45 hole complex of Citrus golf; Foret and Olivier 18?s offer 2 championship courses with testing layouts winding through trees and valleys ? stunning scenery. A 9 hole executive course and extensive driving range provide the serious golfer with a whole day out. The Yasmine 18 holes sit alongside the Citrus courses and again has had rave reviews since we featured it last year. Both courses are only about a 15 minute drive from the hotels in Hammamet.
