Phuket is located in the south west of Thailand, some 550 south of Bangkok. Phuket is Thailand's largest island and enjoys an idyllic location in the Andaman Sea.
Phuket is a pearl shaped island and is 13 miles long and only 5 miles wide at its widest. Phuket originally derived its wealth from tin and rubber and has a rich and colourful history. Phuket's glory is in its magnificent coastline. The beaches range from gentle crescents of white sand to rocky headlands. Phuket offers eight superb golf courses at five locations throughout the island. The newest is the Jack Nicklaus course, Mission Hills. The Blue Canyon Club offers two courses, the Canyon course, which was host to two Johnnie Walker Classics and the Lakes course. The Laguna Phuket course is an excellent 18 hole layout. The Phuket Country Club has one 18 championship course and a very difficult 9 hole course. The Loch Palm Course has one 18 hole course and will open another 18 hole course at the end of 2006.
